Kim became actively involved in the student housing industry after graduating from Virginia Tech in 1991, where her father built and developed Pheasant Run Townhomes and later Pheasant Run Crossing.  As the Marketing Director for her family’s real estate development company, Kim’s primary area of focus revolved around the sales and marketing of both communities in Blacksburg.  Upon completion of both Blacksburg projects, Kim then moved to Harrisonburg, Virginia to assist in the start up of Pheasant Run-Harrisonburg.  She now serves as owner/operator of the company’s property management division and has expanded her expertise to include construction of semi-custom homes as a Class A General Contractor.
